With the very apparent news related to COVID-19 looming in the world on a daily basis, I’d like to direct the attention off of that and discuss the world of sports and related topics concerning the blockbuster Gronk trade.

First, we got the blockbuster news that Rob Gronkowski will be coming out of retirement and be joining Tom Brady in Tampa Bay to compete in the NFL again this season. Personally, this is a great move for Gronk’s personal brand. However, I think he would be making a huge mistake if he played the whole season. Let’s step back and look at why he retired in the first place! He was a young, heavy hitting tight end who loved to party in his prime in the NFL, why would he walk away from that? The answer is simple, he used his brain instead of his head. There has been huge controversies with concussions and the studies of them in NFL players over their careers, which inevitably leads to CTE, which is a severe brain disease that is a horrible one to endure, especially toward the end of your life.

For some context, earlier in the NFL offseason, Tom Brady announced that he would be leaving the New England Patriots and would sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Patriots just announced that they would be trading the contract of Rob Gronkowski to the Buccaneers. This has made a huge splash in the world of sports (considering they can’t be played right now) and has caught a lot of media attention.
