Individual Story #1 – The transition of MLB The Show
MLB The Show will be coming to multiple new platforms as early as 2021. Confirmed by Sony and San Diego Studios.
MLB The Show is a beloved video game by baseball fans everywhere. There has just been one major problem since the game was released back in 1997. That problem, of course, is that it has only been available on PlayStation due to a licensing agreement between San Diego Studios and Sony.
As of right now, there is no confirmed date, but there are rumors that the game could make the transition in 2021 if all of the logistics go smoothly and on time. For all fans of the game, this is huge news. Sources say the expectation is 2021.
I myself have been wanting to get this game since I first played it, but never had the right console to play it on. Adam Brian stated that he “liked the idea of the game spreading to multiple platforms” so that he can play the games with more of his friends and teammates. David Fleita said “For years I struggled with which console. Every time I chose, I would have to choose the PlayStation because they were the only console that had MLB The Show. Now, when it comes time for me to choose my next console in the next generation of gaming, I won’t have to take that into consideration.”
One interesting factor in the release of the game will be the expansion to PC. Typically, when games get to PC, there are custom mods that are added to put in certain effects, or even for just entertainment purposes. This could be a really interesting addition to the world of baseball as far as marketing possibilities and the progression of baseball in the gaming world.
